A truly amazing phenomenon, I am glad that this was reported on CNN, I was shocked when I looked into this earlier this year, and even though this story centered primarily on India; the pressure to lighten ones skin is prevalent in all of Asia. In Japan, China, and Indonesia they perform plastic surgery in conjunction to lighteners to achieve a more European look. This is truly a Global psychological issue..

Joe, you are right about all this. I saw a YouTube video which documents how Iranian people are flocking to plastic surgeons to achieve perfection in their looks- getting Anglo-style nose jobs. It's so sad! It's like a lily destroying its petals in an attempt to look like a rose. We're all beautiful in different ways.
