"Mooz-Lum": Would You Watch It?

"Mooz-Lum" staring Evan Ross (son of the ubiquitous Diana) and Nia Long star in this film about a Muslim American student attending university- circa 9-11. It's an indie, so it's release is extremely limited. Do you think it's a hit or miss?

I'd definitely watch it, too, although since it's such an indie, I'll probably wind up seeing it on DVD. In fact, I haven't heard any buzz about it, I pretty much stumbled upon it from reading religion blogs and sites.

And yes, it's so good to see Nia in a dramatic role, one far from "Big Momma's House" or "Are We There Yet?".

I actually texted one of my Muslim friends after i saw this and she said that her sisters went to see it and it was great. This seems like a great reason to get on the subject of religion. I have been discreetly trying to ask her questions about her faith and what she believes without trying bring up what I believe unless shes asks. So the other day I asked what a good Qua-ran would be to read because I have been trying to get a better understanding of Islam. She got excited and said "Alan are you considering Islam?" I quickly respectfully told her no Im quite secure in my faith and Im just trying not be ignorant of others. I don't think she has ever heard that from a Christian.

Oh... that's sad if she hasn't heard respectful question from Christians. That means we're failing.

I believe I have a Koran somewhere, but then I might've lost it when I moved from my mom's. I'll definitely purchase another one. I think it's a good idea for Christians, secure in their faith, to read about other religions, and not just through Christian apologetic lens. I'm half way through "Velvet Elvis" and I haven't seen what all the fuss is about. But if I just relied on others' interpretation, I'd never really know for myself.
