I got a shout out!

Thanks to Erin for passing on the link to Rod Dreher. And of course, thanks to Rod for the shout out. And maybe my taking offense was a female thing. Or maybe it was all the corny use of hip hop references. Or all of it. :-)

It could be a female thing; I was offended by it! It seemed to be saying: men who have daughters are less manly, because everyone knows daughters are worth less than sons. And I tend to bristle at that, what with my three lovely girls, and all. Can't we ever get over that hateful old idea that a man's daughters are just some kind of genetic byproducts and his sons are the important children? It has hurt far too many women to be treated that way by their fathers.

I completely agree with you. Especially as a daughter and mom of a girl. If God blesses us with more kids, and we have a son, I do not want Zoe to be viewed as less than him.

It should be remembered God made man AND woman in His image!

After I tweeted the link I received a DM from a woman on Twitter who doesn't blog, saying she could see the humor within the read but also how it can be taken out of context, noting politics isn't a good arena for slapstick comedy. And I felt her, just as I feel the above comments.

There appeared to be a hidden (although, not really) notion within the article that hipsters or even blacks in general are unable to chronicle success outside of cool lingo? Lol.

I think he was going for a "Mitt is badass" theme by giving examples of his fathering sons, being rich, a boss, and a leader. He threw in hip hop/ pop culture references in an attempt to give him cred, toughness and edge.

I got that. I just don't think it was funny. It wouldve been acceptable (somewhat) as a blog post. But a published cover story? Nah, fail. Lmao!

Way to Go! That's so cool that he gave you a shout out!

Maybe it gives him more street cred!

Haha! Just kidding :)

Oh, linking to me gives him zero cred. Lol, it would be nice if it did. Thanks. :-)
